A good year, naturally

2022 has been a stellar year, which started with my marriage to Adam Bennett, and sharing our love in a sublime wedding celebration. It inspired me to create wedding rings incorporating tree bark and other aspects of the natural world.

The Minderoo Foundation granted me a month-long residency at their Lab in Exmouth where I created corrosion castings from sea snakes as part of a new body of work ahead of exhibitions in 2024.

When I returned from the residency on 30 September, my 'Baby Wallaby' silver sculpture won Best Interpretation of Theme and Technical Excellence Awards at the JMGA WA's Regenerate exhibition in Mosman Park. In November Mulla Mulla Press published my third book, a poetry collection entitled A Place To Land, edited by Jackson. It was successfully launched in Fremantle and in Melbourne. The book is for sale at Crow Books and New Editions, and through my website.

As the year is coming to a close new plans for the future emerge: Art On the Move has announced that they will be touring Tributaries around the State. My first big solo exhibition in years premiered during the inaugural Indian Ocean Craft Triennial (IOTA21) and encompasses the various creative mediums I work in: jewellery and fine metals, photography, corrosion casting and poetry. The exhibition will feature at Rockingham Arts Centre 3-19 February 2023 before touring further afield.
