The workshop, which is designed for all ages and levels,
introduces participants to a variety of jewellery making
techniques which are all fun and don’t require a lot of
training or tools. The aim is for people to create jewellery
from home, from simple ideas with found objects to more
omplicated pieces in precious metal. The techniques offered
in this 3 week workshop (3X 2 hr sessions) are textile
techniques such as crocheting and knitting. The course
includes a refresher or a start in these traditional techniques,
but will take everyone further into making their own work.
Participants will learn how to adapt these basic techniques to
working with metal wire, integrating beads and making bails
and bezels. The projects vary and are negotiable. They can include: a pendant with bezel-set stone, shell or found object, a crochered bracelet in copper
wire with embedded beads, a knitted pendant in Stirling
Silver with beads/found objects/stone, silver crochet
earrings etc.
Cost: 200$ includes copper wire and tuition; does not
include precious metals, beads and stones. BYO recycled or
new materials, and order silver in advance if you like.
A half day workshop (3 hours) is also available at $ 80 pp,
copper included.
